April at The Quay School: Full of Learning, Sunshine, and Smiles

April was a fun month at The Quay School! We learned lots of new things, spent time outside in the sunshine, and did some really fun activities. Let’s take a look at what happened!

Building Cool Shapes in 4th Class

The 4th class learned all about 3D shapes! They worked in teams to build cubes, pyramids, and other fun shapes. They talked about the shapes and helped each other – great job, 4th class!

Sending Letters to Real Islands!

The 4th class also learned about the islands around Ireland. They wrote real letters to schools and places on those islands to ask what it’s like to live there. 🏝️
Now they are waiting for letters back. How exciting!

Planting Apple Trees and Veggies

First class planted an apple tree and some yummy plants like herbs and veggies. 🪴
Taragh from the Edible Landscape Project helped them. We can’t wait to see them grow!

Amazing Work in the Bebras Challenge

Three of our older students – Siobhán, John, and Luke – went to a big competition called the Bebras Challenge in a real university! 👏
We are very proud of them. Well done!

Spring Walks with Junior Infants

Junior Infants had a fun time outside with Ms. Geraghty. They used the Active Walkway to show how frogs and seeds grow. 🌱
Then on Thursday, they walked on the Greenway and saw flowers, birds, and more signs of spring. 🌸

Singing on a Big Stage

The 5th and 6th classes sang in the National Children’s Choir. They sang on a big stage at the Royal Theatre in Castlebar. 🎶
They were amazing! Big thanks to Ms. Hope and Ms. Chambers for helping them get ready. We’re all so proud!

April was full of sunshine, learning, and happy moments. Thank you to all the children and teachers for making it so special. Don’t forget to look at the photos in our gallery. See you next month for more fun! 🌼
